The 2013 X-Blades National Touch League got off to a frantic start at the BCU International Stadium in Coffs Harbour today.
More than 100 teams across 14 divisions tapped off their campaign to be crowned national touch football champions.
As New South Wales and Queensland sides lead the Elite Eight Series in the men’s and women’s opens divisions, it’s the same scenario in the other divisions at the tournament.
In the mixed opens, five teams won all of their matches today.
Sydney Rebels, South Queensland Sharks, Defence Warriors, ACT Pirates and Brisbane City Cobras each picked up three wins.
In the development division, the T League, Hunter Western Hornets are on top in the men’s competition.
They are two points in front of four other teams heading into day two of competition.
Sydney Rebels lead in Pool A of the women’s competition while there is a three-way battle between Sunshine Coast Pineapples, Brisbane City Cobras and Sydney Scorpions for top spot in Pool B.
The women’s 27s have the Sydney Scorpions and the Brisbane City Cobras out in front.
In the men’s 30s, ACT Pirates are the team to beat after picking up three wins from their three games today.
Hot on their heels though are the Pineapples, Cobras and the Warriors.
The Pirates are also doing well in the women’s 35s, they share the lead with the North Queensland Tropical Cyclones.
Both teams have a comfortable lead over the other three teams in the division.
The South Queensland Sharks and Cobras have hit the front in the men’s 40s, narrowly in front of the Tropical Cyclones and the Warriors.
Sydney Scorpions lead in the women’s 40s following their two wins today.
The Scorpions lead in the men’s 45s alongside the Sharks on eight points.
The Southern Suns have been very consistent in their three matches. They bagged day one honours in the division and want to continue their performances tomorrow.
Pirates, Sydney Mets and Tropical Cyclones are four points behind the Suns.
Scorpions and Pineapples lead in the men’s 55s.
While it’s very tight in the seniors mixed with the Sydney Rebels and Victoria leading the charge but the Scorpions are within striking distance.
